Fearne Cotton Cosmetics

Fearne Cotton – DJ, TV presenter, fashion icon, she is one busy lady....but not content with all that she has now moved into the arena of celebrity make up range’s.

‘Fearne’ is the name of her new ‘girlie with a slight rock chick edge’ range. Designed exclusively for Boots, the product range has been launched just in time for the festive season. The colour palettes include something for everyone, whether you want to glam up or tone down with products ranging from nail polishes and gift sets to gorgeous false lashes.

From her collection, the items I was sent for review were ‘Its all about the lips’ set in First Blush which included a lip gloss, lip pencil and lipstick. A chunky eye pencil in charcoal grey and a pot of green eye shimmer.

So firstly the ‘Its all about the lip’ set: The little set comes in a very cute gift style box so would make an ideal stocking filler for Christmas. There are 4 different styles to this collection – red, purple, pink and nude and it’s the pink version I reviewed entitled ‘First Blush’.

Now I’m not normally a huge wearer of pink make up but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at the colours. The lipstick has quite a lovely matte hue to it. Easy to apply and gives quite a subtle looking colour to the lips which I really liked.

The lip gloss comes in a sweet little twist and pump action lip brush – mind you it did take quite a few twists before the lip gloss appeared in the end of the brush. It has a really pleasant smell which reminded me of sweets and smarties for some reason!!. The gloss is quite thick but fairly easy to apply. The gloss contains glitter so gives a very girlie shimmer to your lips. I did find it a little bit sticky once applied but that soon disappeared after a bit. The main thing is its not overpowering and is great to use as a touch up throughout the day.

The last part of the set was the lip liner…which was ok but found that it wasn’t that easy to apply. The colour is very pale and I found the pencil a bit too hard, you have to push down a bit and go over your lips a few times before you see any colour effect on your lips.

Onto to the chunky eye pencil which I have to say I really liked. Very easy to apply, easy to smudge and the charcoal colour is great for creating the smoky eye effect – which is a signature Fearne look.

Finally onto the eye shimmer. A gorgeous metallic green colour, again easy to apply and you can layer to increase the density of the colour so makes it ideal for a day to night transformation. Being a redhead I wear greens a lot so this shimmer has definitely won me over!!

Overall I’d say that this range is definitely suited for the younger teen market. The packaging is on trend and I would describe the range as a mix of modern and vintage styles with a quirky edge. The makeup itself I was pleasantly surprised at…nice colours and fairly easy to use. Is it a range I would think of purchasing myself…probably not, but young girls will love this and buy it by the bucket load. There are a few key pieces which I love such as the eye pencil and eye shimmer so I will most definitely be keeping my eye on her range in the future to see what she develops. But as far as her first outing goes, I think Fearne has done pretty well!!
