Hair Chalking: new dip dye do it yourself trend

So do you remember my recent blog post about Colour Bug Hair Shadow. Well it seems this new way of colouring your hair is taking off in a big way....but who need to buy a colour bug when you can infact use chalk!! And this method can produce results such as these.

To be able to create this effect yourself you simply need to get some soft wax chalk which you can buy from any general craft shop or online such as Ebay, a pair of gloves (optional but can get messy) and something to cover your top to stop transfer of colour.

Simply section of your hair that you want to colour. Spray the section with a bit of water then you can either twist the section or leave straight and just rub the chalk downwards onto the section until its covered. Just leave to dry naturally then set it using straightening irons to seal the colour....voila dip dye effect completed.

I would advise if you do have really blonde hair then dont use the water as some of the darker colours could stain it. The great thing about this method is its gives you a flash of colour without the damage.....and by next wash it disappears!!

Tips
If you want the colour to be brighter try applying white chalk first and
then the desired colour over it.

Dont apply the chalk if you have any product in your hair

Do not buy oil pastels: they will stain your hair

Blondes: avoid using the water to prevent staining

Redheads: colours such a bright blues, purples and greens look great

Brunettes: pretty much suited to most colours

Black hair: Vibrants colours give the most effects such as red, pinks, blues and purple.

Remember to use a good conditioner after...the chalk can have a drying effect on your hair.

There you go.....let me know if you try it...do you like the results?
